» Mobile GMaps Smartphone viewer for Google, Yahoo and Windows Live Maps Description

Mobile GMaps is a FREE application that displays Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, Windows Live Local, MSN Virtual Earth and Ask.com Maps and satellite imagery on Smartphones, Java J2ME-enabled mobile phones, PDAs and other devices. The application works quite well with these maps providers and the best thing about it that it is in your Pocket everywhere you are.

MGMaps must be able to access the web in order to download map and satellite tiles. WAP access is usually cheaper but does not work for some phone/provider combinations. For optimum performance, a broadband connection like EDGE, 3G, HSDPA or WiFi is recommended.

You can use passthrough connection to view maps. Features includes Search and zoom function, toggle marker, ability to set coordinates, and GPS Sync to name a few.

I really like the premise and maybe my phone is to new for this program. I have the ipaq 6915 and the program downloaded great but it will not allow me to use the menu or go under 200 km viewing. I am still trying to get this worked out.

Right now it has a few bugs but then that is what Beta testing is for. Ask all the qontsiues you want so we don't miss anything and I can test everything out. It's important to the AllShadow.com Community that this works once it goes final right?Ask away!

My definition has cghaned for now, I call a smartphone' an internet computing device that is so good at connecting me to the rest of the world that it is good enough for me to use INSTEAD of a computer. I do not care about technical specs per se just that it is a preferred method to get something done.We have a pair of Nokia phones that have a (on paper) decent camera, contact app, can text, and even connect to the web etc. On paper, they would pass muster as having many features listed for a smartphone.' But the implementation is SO bad, we basically use none of them.In contrast, a Palm Pre or iPhone really make surfing the web from a small pocket computer usable sometimes even preferred over pulling out a computer. I swear Google maps on my iPhone is easier to use than the same site connected by a computer because the latter does not have GPS info connected to it.
